Watercolour and gouache on paper. A study of the 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards in mounted review order. Signed lower left CC for Christopher Clark. Contained in a period gold mount hand painted with regimental badge and Battle Honours from Blenheim to South Africa. Framed and glazed.
Christopher Clark RI (1875-1942) was a self-taught painter who exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Institution. He worked as an illustrator and favoured ceremonial military scenes often depicting the Guards. Ref: Benezit Dictionary of British Graphic Artists and Illustrators, Voi. I, 2012.
