1871 Pattern Officer’s helmet, the gilt metal skull applied with a silver twelve pointed hobnail star, centered on the Garter motto, ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Pense’, around the Victorian royal crest of a silver lion statant guardant over a gilt Queen Victoria crown on red enamel ground, above the regimental title scroll, the whole complete with gilt side rosettes, gilt chin scales and white red hair plume of regimental pattern.
