Wickerwork construction covered with North American black bear, (Ursus Americanus), with graduated brass chin chain. Maker’s stamp to the interior of Silberston & Sons, supplier of bearskins to the Brigade of Guards since the 19th century. Contained in a japanned tin bearing the label of Victorian army accoutrement maker Cater & Co, 56 Pall Mall, St. James’s London, S.W.
