A Prince of Wales Royal Presentation Cigarette Case, 1901

Measurements: 8.5cm (3.3in) x 6cm (2.3in) x 1.4cm (.5in)



Silver cigarette case applied with a gold and red guilloche enamel cypher and Prince of Wales’s feathers and motto ‘Ich Dein’ (I Serve) of George, Prince of Wales (afterwards George V), the hinged lid with spring catch. Gilt interior with maker’s mark of ‘A.C.’ for Alfred Clark. Hallmarked London 1901. Contained in its original red leather, silk and velvet lined fitted case of the Royal Warrant holder Alfred Clark, 33 New Bond Street, London.

George V was styled His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall and York until 1901 when he became His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. He became King on 6 May 1910.
