Silver and enamels. Badge of R.A.F. El Adem, Libya in silver and enamels. Maker’s mark of Garrard & Co., 112 Regent Street, London, W.1. Hallmarked 1962.

El Adem, 16 km south of Tobruk, was developed from an Italian airfield in 1941, and was used by RAF and USAAF during the North African Campaign. After the war it was used primarily as a staging post by the RAF. It was handed over to the Libyan Air Force in 1970 and is now known as Gamal Abdul El Nasser Airbase.
