Measurements: 18cm (7in) x 8cm (3in) x 7cm (2.5in)



Silver plated desk top box mounted with silver pouch flap engraved with foliate border and applied with a crowned gilt VR cypher; each end further mounted with silver slings. Originally worn by cavalrymen as containers for carbine rifle ammunition, shoulder belt pouches assumed purely decorative usage in the mid 19th century. They were customarily converted by cavalry officers for domestic use
