Provenance: The Estate of the late Sir Edward du Cann, K.B.E. (1924-2017)

Cast iron. A Second World War Admiralty dedicatory plaque, comprising the Royal Navy fouled anchor insignia encircled by the Latin inscription `Sig Off Mag Adm Mag Brit` (Official Seal of His Britannic Majesty`s Admiralty), beneath the Naval Crown formed of alternate ship’s sterns and sails. Plaques of this type were awarded by the The Admiralty in recognition of a town adopting a Royal Navy vessel during Warship Week in February 1942.
