In the form of a turned snuff box, composed of concentric rings of various woods, encircling an adapted 18ct gold badge, the reverse uppermost, commemorating The Royal Naval Exhibition, 1891. Obverse: A fouled anchor mounted on oak, surrounded by a band inscribed on both sides. bearing the legend: ' Royal Naval Exhibition 1891'. Reverse: inscribed ‘Timber from the “Victory” 1805’. The central oak section is thus believed to be from the 104-gun first rate ship of the line laid down in 1759 and launched in 1765. The Royal Naval Exhibition took place between 2 May to 24 October 1891 in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
