Modelled in the uniform of the Colonel-in-Chief, Welsh Guards. Signed by Guillaume Laplange. Stamped with the mark of the prestigious Paris bronze art founders Susse Frères

Guillaume Laplange was a member of a colony of foreign artists living in working in Egypt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. He was art advisor to the Egyptian Royal family, and in 1908 became one of the founders and the first director of the Egyptian School of Fine Arts under the patronage Prince Yusuf Kamal.
