Portrait bust of Horatio Nelson, near half-length, standing to right, with head turned to look to left; wearing Bath sash over naval uniform, his right sleeve pinned to breast, in oval frame with laurel decoration, placed with anchor, flags, ramrods, canon, bar shot and canon balls and on a piece of land floating in the sky; Battle of the Nile below, the French admiral's ship L'Orient exploding in the distance at left; coat of arms below image. Bearing the title ‘Admiral Lord Nelson, K.B., & The Victory of the Nile’ and inscribed ‘This portrait of Admiral Lord Nelson and View of / The Situation of the english and French Fleets in the above memorable / Engagement at the awful Moment of / The French Admiral’s Ship L’Orient’s Tremendous Explosion / ….’.
