Presentation photograph by J. Russell & Sons of London. Signed in the mount ‘Edwd. Saxe Weimar F.M.' and dated 1902. Framed and glazed in the period polished hardwood frame with applied presentation plaque to Colonel Borthwick. 

Prince William Augustus Edward of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, (1823-1902), was of princely German parentage but entered the British army in 1841. He served in the Crimea with the Grenadier Guards and rose to become a Field Marshal in 1897.
