Gilt brass. Officer’s 1834 Pattern helmet of the 1st King’s Dragoon Guards 1834-1843; plain front peak, acanthus scrolls to back peak, headband bearing regimental title ‘1ST OR KING’S DRAGOON GUARDS’, the gilt skull topped by a high gilt comb ornamented with decorative sprays of acorns and oak leaf, fitted with replacement full dress black bearskin comb; the rayed helmet plate bearing Royal Arms over ‘WATERLOO’ battle honour; large ear rosettes to either side with leather backed gilt chin scales terminating in a buckle clasp the interior with leather lining.
