Watercolour. Mounted R.H.A. officer  on Woolwich Common with the Herbert Hospital in the background. Indistinctly signed ‘J.B. / L [Battery?] RHA, 2.3.86’, inscribed and dated 2.3.86.

Herbert Hospital was built as a restorative facility for British veterans of the Crimean War, and remained a military hospital until 1977 when it was redeveloped for residential use under the name of the Royal Herbert Pavilions.
