An Early Georgian King of Arms’ Tabard Sleeve

Silver and gold bullion wire on velvet ground as proscribed for the senior officers of arms at the College of Arms - these being, Garter Principal King of Arms, Clarenceaux King of Arms and Norroy and Ulster King of Arms. Framed and glazed. Sleeve length: 45cm (17.75in).

The Royal Arms displayed are those born by King George I (1714-1727) and King George II (1727-1760). Following the death of the last Stuart monarch, Queen Anne, the Royal arms were changed to incorporate the Hanoverian arms of her successor under the terms of the Act of Settlement of 1701, George, the Elector of Hanover, Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg, and Arch Treasurer of the Holy Roman Empire.
