Tyley / With The Grateful Thanks Of The / Great Western Railway Co.' Numbered 1868 underside. Maker’s mark of A.C. Bloxham, Birmingham 1926.

‘Complete Stagnation’ boomed the Kensington Post on Friday 7 May 1926, in response to the walk out of some 70,000 G.W.R. employees. ‘Abandoned passenger trains stretch along  the platforms and large stocks of food supplies brought in by the goods trains on Monday night are being slowly removed by voluntary workers whose enthusiasm to some extent makes up for their obvious lack of experience in this class of work …’
