Patinated bronze bust of Napoleon as Emperor of France. Crowned with a laurel wreath in antique Roman style. After Antoine Denis Chaudet (1783-1810).
The present bust is based on the marble by Chaudet, the official sculptor to the Premier Consul and Imperial family from 1802. The present bronze is testament to admiration for the felt for Napoleon’s achievements by successive regime’s in France, following the return of his mortal remains to France in 1840.
