1871 pattern officer’s helmet of gilt metal, the skull applied with with a silvered twelve pointed radiating star centered on the regimental title ‘Carabiniers’ in gilt metal, encircling the silvered royal crest of a gilt lion statant guardant standing upon the Imperial State Crown, the whole complete with gilt ear rosettes, brass chin scales and white horse hair plume.
