Gilt brass. 1812 model regulation pattern ‘plaque de shako d’officier du 28e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne’. The regulation ‘Amazon shield’ pierced through with the regimental number. Centre of the lower portion of the ‘8' numeral absent. Premier Empire 1804-1815.

The French 28th Line Infantry fought Wellington’s Peninsula army at Vitoria in June 1813 as part of d’Erlon’s corps. They were further present during the War of the Sixth Coalition at Dolma, Raknitz, Dresden, Cassel and Coutrai in 1813; at Acis-sur-Aube and Saint-Dizier in 1814 and at Waterloo in 1815.
