Photographic print. Titles on the lower mount ‘Inspection of the Grenadier Guards by H.R.H. The Duke of Connaught, K.G.  / on the occasion of his 25th Anniversary as Colonel, May 16th 1929’. Published by Gale & Polden / Aldershot. Contained in period oak frame with gilt slip. Glazed.

This occasion was the first time since the First World War that all three battalions of the Grenadier Guards paraded together. The seventy-nine year-old Duke was accompanied by the Prince of Wales. Also present, and flanking the newly erected Guards Division War Memorial, were members the Comrade’s Association in ‘cloth caps and silk hats’, together with cadets from Sandhurst, Eton and the Oxbridge OTC’s.
