Raja Man Singh of Dhrangadhra, KCSI (1837-1900) was born in the Manmahelat Palace, Dhrangadhra, and succeeded on the death of his father in 1869. He attended the 1877 Imperial Durbar at Delhi, where he was raised to a personal salute of 15-guns. He continued the modernization and reform programme instituted by his father, paying particular attention to extending education facilities, improving the transport infrastructure, reforming the revenue assessments and building hospitals. His strenuous efforts to bring relief to those affected by the famine of 1900 led to his own death.
