Press photographs of Sir Winston Churchill’s state funeral show officers from the Household Division carrying batons of this design while in attendance on the principal mourners. An identical example, together black armband embroidered with a crown, can be found on display at the Wykeham Arms, Kingsgate Street, Winchester.
