Pressed tin. 1812 model of regulation eagle over crescent type ‘plaque de shako du 13e Régiment d'Infanterie Légère’ as worn by the regiment’s chasseur (centre) companies. The plate differenced by non-regulation plinth terminals in place of inward facing lion head finials. One of Napoleon’s twenty-six light infantry regiments in 1812, it won its five Battle Honours at Austerlitz, 1806, Jena, 1807, and Eylau, Eckmuhl, Wagram in 1809. At Wagram the 13th Legere was part of Morand's Infantry Division (Davout's Corps). In Russia in 1812 at Borodino the regiment was part of Morand's 1st Infantry Division (Davout's Corps) and participated in the attacks on Great Redoubts (also called Raievski Redoubt and Death Redoubt). In 1815 at Waterloo the 13th Légère captured farm of La Haye Sainte, in the very centre of the Allied position.
