Full length studio portrait of Queen Mary portrayed in evening dress, tiara, Garter insignia by the royal photographers W. & D. Downey of 61 Ebury Street, London, SW. Signed and dated in ink in the lower mount the Queen’s hand ‘Mary / 1928’. Framed with a letter verso concerning the gift of the photograph to Dr. Dudden, at Badminton, Gloucestershire.

The Rev. Dr. Frederick Homes Dudden (1874–1955) was Chaplain to George V and George VI from 1929 to 1952. He was Master of Pembroke College, Oxford (1918–55) and Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University (1929–32).
