Silver. Of plain rectangular form with round corners, and spring hinged top section operated push button release. The obverse engraved with the Prince of Wales’s feathers and D.G.; the reverse engraved with two heraldic crests (An Arm In Armour Embowed Holding In The Gauntlet A Battle-Axe, for Dawson, and, A Bull's Head Gu., Armed, for Massy) and the intertwined initials J.M.D. for James Massy Dawson (1857-1891) Ballinacourty House, at the Glen of Aherlow, County Tipperary. Maker’s mark of Edward H. Stockwell. Hallmarked London 1873.
