Gilding metal and silver. Rayed gilt back plate applied with a Queen Victoria crown over the conjoined coats of Royal Arms of King William IV and Queen Adelaide, the cypher of Queen Adelaide revsersed and intertwined below in silver. The battle honours PENINSULA, PUNNIAR, SOBRAON, CHILLIANWALLAH, GOOJERAT , DELHI, LUCKNOW and PUNJAUB were all awarded before 1881. The next three honours were awarded in 1885 – KABUL 1879, KANDAHAR 1880, CHARASIAH - were added to the lance cap plate in 1890.
