Silver plated brass commemorative cigarette box by Granger of Egypt, the interior cedar lined. The lid engraved with a map of the European, Mediterranean and North African theatres of war, the sides further engraved with dates and events from the ‘Germany invades of Poland’ September 1 1939 to ‘Germany surrenders unconditionally’ May 7 1945. Marked ‘Granger of Egypt' and inscribed to the underside 'Brass used in the Manufacture / of this Box was salvaged / from the Battlefields of / World War II'. A similar example is in the Imperial War Museum collection (IWM EPH 2488).
