1871 Pattern Officer’s helmet of gilt brass with silver eight point 'hobnail' star centered on the gilded motto ‘Quis Separabit MDCCLXXXIII’ (Who Shall Separate Us 1783), over pale blue enamel ground and encircling the saltire in red guilloche enamels and clover leaf applied with crowns also in enamels, the spike fitted with the regimental plume of white horse hair, the whole complete with gilt ear rosettes, interior leather headband, brass chin scale and white horse hair plume.
