Silver. Rectangular case with engine turned decoration, the sprung hinged lid engraved with the 8th Punjabis regimental badge of a chinthe. Gilt interior inscribed ’27/11/45’. Maker’s mark of Dudley Russell Howitt. Hallmarked 1944.
The regiment raised 14 battalions and suffered over 4,500 casualties. Battalions saw action in Burma, Malaya, Italy, Iraq, and Iran. Two battalions were captured at the Fall of Singapore in 1942.
