Each oval panel engraved with the Prince of Wales’s feathers and motto ‘Ich Dien’ (I serve), the ‘E’ cypher of Edward, Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor (1894-1972)), encircled by the Garter and motto ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’ (May he be shamed who thinks badly of it).
