1871 Pattern Officer’s helmet, the skull applied with a white metal eight pointed Garter star, overlaid on a gilt mount in form of sprays of oak and laurel leaves, centered on the Garter motto, ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Pense’, in gilt over a blue enamel ground, surrounding a cross of red enamel, the whole complete with gilt side rosettes, brass chin scales and white horse hair plume. The nickel plated cuirass comprising back and front plates with chased brass studded edging, the interior with red leather lining, black pleated velvet edging, brass shoulder scales cast with laurel leaves, and gilt braid waist strap, together wilt bullion aigullettes and shoulder boards with regimental buttons.
