Gold oval convex panels, alternately embossed with the coronet of Albert, Duke of York (later George VI, reigned 1936-1952) over his ‘A’ cypher, encircled by the Garter motto ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’ (Shame on him who thinks ill of it): and the ‘E’ cypher for Elizabeth, Duchess of York, later Queen Consort, and Queen Mother (1900-2002) encircled by a wreath and beneath the coronet of her rank.
