Silver. Regimental table cigar cutter modelled in the form an elephant to reflect the 76th Foot’s Hindoostan Elephant badge, the howdah fitted with the sprung cutter. Raised on he ebonised base applied with presentation plaque inscribed ‘Presented to the Officers / 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington’s Regt / by Lieutenant LH Herapath and Lieutenant CS Langdale, RH Gill, TM Ellis / September 1901’. Height of elephant: 11cm (4.5in). Maker’s mark of The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co, London. Hallmarked 1906.
