Polychromed metal Royal Warrant Holder’s sign inscribed 'By Appointment To Her Majesty The Queen Motor Car Distributors’.

Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) was a keen motorist, and beyond the chauffered Jaguars, Bentleys, Daimlers and Rolls Royces, took a hands on approach to motoring. At 18 she trained as truck mechanic with the Auxiliary Territorial Service towards the end of the Second World War. In 1961 Elizabeth II began her long association with Royal Warrant holder Vauxhall –  when she was ordered a PA Cresta Friary Estate, alledgedly her favourite car. She had it spec’d to suit her outdoorsy lifestyle, with bespoke modifications that included fishing rod holders built into the roof, a dog guard for the corgis and a gun rack, as well as custom Imperial Green paintwork. The late Queen was also well known as a fan of Series I, II and III Land Rovers.
