Pressed brass. 1812 model regulation eagle over crescent type ‘plaque de shako d’artillerie à pied de la ligne’ as worn by NCOs, drummers and gunners of the Foot Artillery companies. The plate comprising regulation crescent shaped ‘Amazon shield’ with laurel border terminating twin plinth finials, the whole surmounted by the crowned imperial eagle looking to the right and clutching Jupiter’s spindle in its talons - emblematic of the power of Jupiter Optimus Maximus.
