Pair of 18 carat yellow gold cufflinks with oval panels and chain links, each panel set with the Royal Crest of a crowned lion guardant statant standing upon the St Edward’s crown in enamels. Contained in case of Hunt & Roskell, Bond Street, London.
A near identical pair of cufflinks belonged to King Edward VIII and appeared as lot 119 in the Sotheby’s sale of The Duchess of Windsor’s Jewels, Geneva, 2-3 April 1989. The latter pair are probably those shown in the Royal Collection Trust glass plate negative illustrating of links and studs belonging to George V during the period 1890 to 1936 (RCIN 2407966).
