Sepia informal photograph of Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) as Princess of Wales with her grandson Prince Edward of York, later Edward VIII and subsquently Duke of Windsor (1894-1972) at Osborne House by royal photographer Chancellor of Dublin, 1899. Signed in Alexandra’s hand; paired with Queen Alexandra with the infant Prince Edward of York at the age of one, by royal photographer W&D Downey of London, 1895. The Royal Collection Trust and the V&A hold examples of both images, RCIN 2927986 and ID 1000LM0921 respectively. Contained in an arcg topped glazed Morocco souble frame by royal warrant holder Macmichael of South Audley Street, London.
