Silver. Modelled as a Paratrooper collapsing a parachute in sheet silver, mounted on a hardwood base, with title plaque to the underside inscribed ‘The Eternal Parachute Soldier / 40th Anniversary Airborne Forces Landings in Europe 1944. Made by Robert Glover. Hallmarked London 1984. Complete with certificate signed in ink by the Regimental Colonel and Regimental Secretary of the Parachute Regiment, stating Model Number 63 of 100. Made to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1944 Airborne Forces landings in the South of France, Normandy and Arnhem. 

Robert Glover (b.1947), sculptor and silversmith, studied at Hornsey College of Art and at Royal College of Art. He designed silverware for presentation to Elizabeth II and Princess Grace of Monaco, and jewellery for Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. He sculpted the Brit Award for the UK music industry in 1993.
