Silver. Cylindrical body with flared rim and and foot, barrel loop banding and scroll handle, the body inscribed ‘RAK’ within an escutcheon in the form of a ship’s stern; to the left, a billowing funnel (possibly referencing the passing of the golden age of sail), a draped sail and a coil of rope; to the right, a stand of cannon balls, with a sailor in a Sennet hat keeping watch with a telescope on the ramparts of a harbour defence bristling with canon and flying the Union Jack. The other side engraved with a depiction of brigantine with a fully square-rigged foremast and main mast set with square topsail and a gaff sail mainsail. Maker’s mark of Charles Reily and George Storer. Hallmarked London 1848.
