An 1818-1834 Pattern ‘Roman’ or ‘Minerva’ style officer’s helmet with black japanned skull and comb with fire gilt laurel spray decoration and topped by bearskin crest. The rayed fire gilt helmet plate bearing Royal Arms and regimental title scroll inscribed ‘1st or King’s Dragoon Guards’, complete with lion mask ear bosses, velvet-lined overlapping four point acanthus chin scales terminating in lion’s paw clasp. Later bearskin crest.
