Comprising a King’s Crown in yellow gold and enamel over white gold crossed Pioneer axes above a Sikh quoit inscribed XXXII Sikh Pioneers, surmounting the regimental motto scroll inscribed with Hannibal’s dictum ‘Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam’ (I shall either find a way or make one); the white gold tie bar terminating in a single old eight-cut diamond, pin fitting to the reverse and contained in its original Goldsmith’s and Silversmiths & Company blue morocco fitted case
Raised as the Punjab Sappers (Pioneers) in 1857 the regiment underwent changes of title to become the 32nd Punjab Pioneers in 1901 and the 32nd Sikh Pioneers from 1903 to 1922. They were deployed as Sikh infantry but were further trained as assault pioneers. Their most celebrated feat of arms was the relief in 1895 of the besieged British garrison of Chitral, by a gruelling crossing of the snow-covered Shandur Pass.
