Circa 1965
41mm x 46mm
Scottish Thistle and Tudor Rose in yellow gold, the former set with circular-cut amethysts and emeralds and green enamel, the latter with revolving head set with circular-cut rubies.
The Thistle displayed to the left of the Rose is unique to 2nd Bn Scots Guards. It is represented in this fashion on the King’s Colours as presented by Edward VIII in 1936, by George VI in 1951 and Elizabeth II in 1965. Elsewhere it is customary for the Tudor rose to proceed the Thistle, with the addition of extra foliage.
