Diamond set 18 carat gold rose and thistle, the rose set with rubies, the thistle set with emerald and amethyst, foliage with ten rose cut diamonds, all within the Garter motto in yellow gold and blue enamel - ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’ (Shame on him who thinks evil of it), surmounted by the Queen’s crown in yellow gold and red enamel. Maker’s mark of Cropp & Farr.
Formed as The Welsh Regiment in 1881 by merging the 41st (Welch) Regiment of Foot and the 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot. The regiment changed its title to the archaic spelling of 'Welch' in 1921. The regimental goat wore this device on his shabraque.
