Silver. Russian style combination vesta and cigarette case, the flush hinged lid to main compartment with a gold thumbpiece and centrally engraved with the crowned GVR cypher of King George V (reigned 1910-1936) encircled by the Garter and motto ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’ (Shame on him who thinks ill of it). Fitted with a hinged integral steel compartment and match striker at the upper end, and tinder cord retainer chain; the cigarette and vesta compartments with gilt interiors. Maker’s mark of Royal Warrant holder Garrard & Co. Ltd., 24 Albermarle Street, London SW. Hallmarked London 1917. Contained in its original navy blue gilt tooled morocco case.
