Silver. Two handled tankard with glass bottom. Obverse: engraved K.O.H. for the King’s Own Hussars with the running horse of Hanover beneath the motto scroll inscribed ‘Nec Aspera Terrent’ (Nor do difficulties deter), the whole encircled by the Garter and surmounted by the Queen Victoria crown. The reverse engraved with the heraldic crest of stags’ head erased for Captain Robert George Dickson, 3rd Hussars. Maker’s mark of Frazer & Haws of Regent Street, London. On George I’s accession in 1714, the regiment was renamed the King’s Regiment of Dragoons. The following year, George granted it his family crest of a white horse as its badge, in recognition of its service against Jacobite rebels at Sherrifmuir in 1715.
