Silver. The chamberstick with shaped dish and reeded border, scroll handle and detachable conical extinguisher, and baluster socket with matching shaped and reeded drip pan. The dish engraved with the crowned AR cypher of Queen Adelaide (consort of King William IV, reigned 1830-37) and the presentation inscription ‘The gracious gift / Of Her Majesty Queen Adelaide / to Sophia Parker / 25th December 1833’. Maker’s mark of Creswick & Co (Thomas, James & Nathaniel Creswick). Hallmarked Sheffield 1832.

Sophia Parker is listed as being employed as a ‘Dresser’ in the Royal Household of Queen Adelaide (1830-1837) from 1832-1834 and an ‘Assistant Dresser’ in 1835.
