Sir Cecil Beaton’s official portrait of the 1953 coronation shows the Queen seated against the backdrop of the fan vaulted ceiling of the Henry VII chapel adorned with the knights’ banners of the Order of the Bath in Westminster Abbey. The Queen is shown in full coronation regalia, wearing the St. Edward’s crown, the Armills (bracelets), the crimson velvet Robe Royal, and holding the Sceptre with the Cross and the Sovereign’s Orb.
