A heraldic artist’s hand painted polychromed coach panel depicting the arms of the Lord Mayor of the City of London; the shield emblazoned with the Cross of St. George, differenced with a sword in the canton, representing that used to behead St. Paul, the patron saint of the City of London, with dragon supporters and dragon wing crest resting on a helm facing sinister. Motto: ’Domine dirige nos’ (Lord guide us). In base, the arms of Essex, three notched Saxon seaxes (cutlasses) on a red field.
