Captain Robert Worthingthon Hamilton, Grenadier Guards was wounded at the Battle of the Alma while carrying the colours, but continued in the action. He was present throughout the siege of Sebastopol. He is pictured among the Grenadier officers enjoying Christmas dinner 1855 on the Heights before Sebastopol by was artist William Simpson.
