Silver. In the form of the crowned regimental VRI cypher for Victoria Regina Imperatrix (Victoria Queen Empress) over crossed lances. Maker’s mark of the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd., 112 Regent Street, London Hallmarked London 1906.

Major Carfrae Hamilton Delmege (1880-1945) of Rathkaele, County Limerick was educated at Uppingham School, and was commissioned into the 21st Lancer’s from the 8th King’s Liverpool Regiment in 1900 ‘in succession to Lieutenant The Honourable R.H.L.J. de Montmorency, V.C.’. (London Gazette 17.4.1900). A member of the 21st Lancers polo team, he became Captain in 1910 and was appointed Adjutant of the North Somerset Yeomanry. He later became Major 3rd Reserve Cavalry Brigade. He married Rose Isabel de Montmorency Eccles in Dublin in 1906, and died at Whitehall Court, Westminster in January 1945.
