Table box incorporating a postilion’s arm badge for the hinged lid, charged with a lion rampant under an Earl’s coronet for John Henry Crichton, 4th Earl Erne, KP, PC (1839-1914) Anglo-Irish peer and Conservative politician, with four holes at the edges originally for attachment to the postillion’s upper sleeve. Gilt interior. Maker’s mark of George Lawrence Connell. Hallmarked London 1903.
